Miami, FL (May 23, 2023) - Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) awarded a contract for nitrile gloves to Mersi Distribution LLC. The contract will involve the provision of nitrile gloves over a three-year term of May 17, 2023 through May 16, 2026. In Fiscal Year 2021-2022, the District spent $1,116,357.36 on personal protective equipment (adult surgical masks, vinyl gloves, nitrile gloves and alcohol wipes). Despite the pandemic being in the rearview, school districts nationwide continue to use large quantities of disposable gloves for foodservice, nursing, and other purposes.
The pandemic has catalyzed the growth of the global disposable gloves market, with research firm Spherical Insights LLP expecting a 5.6% CAGR until 2030. Spherical Insights noted, "The healthcare sector in major developing economies is anticipated to witness substantial growth on account of several factors, such as increasing investments in both the private and public sectors, rising population, the high influx of migrants, and the growing geriatric population."
